The Spanish Super Cup...A shining beacon of Awesomeness

Months before my departure to Barcelona and endless hours on google, I stumbled upon a website that revealed that the Barca Futbol team would be playing Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, the day that Andrew and Max would arrive in Barcelona.  It was my mission to get us tickets to this game.  With a game start time of 11:00 pm and a ticket price of 130 Euros/each, my mission was successful.  Not only was my mission successful, the Barca team was successful in beating Madrid and the Kramer family peaked in bliss.

Messi scored two goals, including the late winner, as Barcelona won its 10th Spanish Supercup with a dramatic 3-2 victory over its bitter rival, Real Madrid.  The game ended with both benches brawling on the Camp Nou field.
The first leg, in Madrid on Sunday, had ended at 2-2, so Barcelona won the cup by 5-4 on aggregate.  (Asher, Zach and I watched this match on the beach and in various bars - I know, bad mom.. letting her children stay up til 1:00 am to watch a futbol game.  Wait is it really so bad?  Or is it bad that we were watching in a bar?  The kids got used to the local late night exhilarating life of Barcelona).
Back to the Supercup game... Messi volleyed Adrianos cross past Casillas for the 87th minute winner to finish off a move started by Fabregas, who was making his Barcelona debut after a transfer from Arsenal.
Players pushed and shoved after the tackle in front of the benches.  After the players were separated and three red cards were raised, Barcelona lifted its record to a 3rd straight Supercup.

Time to Celebrate the Victory

Bad Tactics:  The lasting image will be of Mourinho (Madrid coach) putting his finger into the eye of Barcelona assistant coach Tito Vilanova, who then slapped the Madrid coach on the head.  Barcelona's players labeled Madrid's tactics 'disgrace and said Mourinho is destroying Spanish Futbol.  Despite their differences.. the message was clear: SUCCESS this season goes through Barcelona.

If there was a word that described greatness, it would have to be MESSI.  I have never and probably will never see again the sheer beauty of arguably the best player in the world in action.
